AGX237 Africa / Nigeria Yoruba oshe Shango ceremonial wand female with yoke. 20" x 7 1/2"

Africa, Nigeria Yoruba Shango wand presents as a standing female with bare breasts holding what appears to be a priestly yoke. It is smoothly carved and mounted on a Lucite base.

The celt shows two shell-shaped incisions on the front. The handle is cylindrical expanding to larger on each end.
20"H x 7 1/2"W celt. #AGX237

Acquired in 1992, from African associate, Ali Sillah, giving it an age of at least 30 years as of 2022. As is customary with African ceremonial carvings, the maker is not indicated. Age estimated by the source as ca. 1985.
