Ceremonial mask of the Baule Tribe of West Africa , elegantly carved with detailed coiffure in traditional Baule style. Half almond eyes, square mouth, scarification on brow and cheeks. Acquired in 1993, from the personal collection of Dr. Mamadou Diop MD, Senegalese physician, collector and gallery owner in Abidjan, Cote d'Ivoire (Ivory Coast). Carver once known. Age estimated (by Dr. Diop) ca.1940s. 15" high
