Australian Aboriginal print, “Radjarra”, by indigenous Doris Gingingara, color lino reduction,#31 of 95 . Ca 1994. The fish are barramundis, a favorite fish for eating by Australians.

Doris Gingingara was born ca. 1946 at the Northern Territory Arnhemland Aboriginal community of Maningrida. As a child, she learned the lifeways of the Barada people.

Her art has been inspired by her surroundings, Dreamings, and an Aboriginal woman's perspectives of Mt. Magnet, the mining town that was her home until she died in 1999.

This work was one of a series of four with seasonal themes. The other three works have been acquired by previous buyers. Doris Gingingara's work is included in collections at Artbank, Sydney; the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra; the Art Gallery of Western Australia Perth and Flinders University Art Museum in Adelaide.
