Australian Painted Emu Egg.

Emu eggs are painted by Australian Aborigines as a craft to offer souvenirs for visitors to their communities. The egg contents serve as an important source of nutrition for people living in the bush.

This emu egg has been hollowed and emptied of contents and then painted by an authentic Australian Aboriginal artist in traditional desert Aboriginal dot technique.

We acquired this painted emu egg from Muk Muk, in Alice Springs, NT, Australia in 2001.
