William Sandy was born near Ernabella, South Australia ca. 1944. William Sandy started painting in 1975. working under the aegis of Papunya Tula in the 1980s. He has lived at Papunya in central Australia since 1973. At Papunya he married Violet Nakamarra, the sister of Michael Nelson Jagamarra, another well-known Aboriginal artist. William Sandy is also a knowledgeable traditional medicine man. This an authentic work of indigenous Australian Aboriginal desert dot artistry.

We acquired this painting from Papunya Tula in Alice Springs in 1994. It has been held under climate-controlled condition ever since and is in excellent condition
